From Pipeline to Patient (Yokohama, Japan 2025)

Yokohama, Japan
September 30 – October 2, 2025.

Yokohama, Japan:  On Wednesday, 1 October 2025 (15:30–17:30 JST), the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) and ICGC ARGO will convene a high-level forum at Pacifico Yokohama North (Room G314+G315): From Pipeline to Patient: Delivering on the Promise of Precision Oncology and Beyond.

Building on the momentum from United Nations High-Level Week in New York and the Last Mile Action Agenda (equitable early detection; partnerships and capacity; sustainable financing), the Yokohama forum focuses on translating political commitment into practical delivery in clinics and cancer centres. More than 200 policy makers and stakeholders participated around UNGA; a similar number is expected to engage in Yokohama. This forum also builds on the Vision Europe conference in Brussels, where the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine convened regional leaders to align on European priorities for precision oncology delivery and equitable access.

Why this matters: Breakthroughs in genomics, biomarkers, AI, and innovative trial designs only change lives when they reach the bedside. This forum brings clinicians, scientists, policymakers, industry, and patient advocates into one room to agree concrete steps countries can adopt and scale.

Programme highlights (JST)

  • 15:30–15:45 — Welcome and context
  • 15:45–16:10 — Debate 1: Is genomics reaching the patient bedside?
  • 16:10–16:40 — Debate 2: Stratified screening as the new frontline
  • 16:40–17:10 — Debate 3: Trials and real-world data — a genomic inclusion test
  • 17:10–17:30 — Closing and next steps

What attendees will gain

  • Early detection ready to implement: risk-stratified screening models with measurable targets for stage shift and time to result
  • Capacity and partnerships that last: interoperable data standards, workforce upskilling, connected centres with patient navigation built in
  • Financing that enables access: clear routes to reimburse essential diagnostics and biomarkers, and the use of real-world evidence to support responsible adoption
